Discrepancy in housing scheme: KCR demands probe in the matter
Honorary Chief Minister, Mr. K. Chandrashekhar Rao asked the District collectors to carry out an extensive inquiry in the housing scheme. A survey conducted in 593 villages spilled the beans about Rs 253 crore being fiddled with, which was supposed to be used in the housing project. Records show only 55 lakhs houses have been constructed in Telangana, the total number that should be is 84 lakhs.
The meeting took places amidst top officials, bureaucrats, department heads and district collectors where the Chief Minister addressed the issue. Important fact was disclosed wherein no houses were constructed nor there were beneficiaries. His point of contention was that if the money invested in the housing scheme was not used in the right way, all the public money would go down in the drain.
He demanded that whoever responsible for the cheat and fraud in the housing scandal should be held guilty and punished. It is the District Collector’s duty to do their job with efficiency and take a tough call at the issue. Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao also spoke of civil supplies scheme where the number of ration cards issued was higher than the houses in Telengana. The imbalance between households and excess ration being issued to people is a great matter of concern and needs to be reviewed, according to Mr.Rao.
