DLF to lose land holding
The fine print of the Punjab and Haryana high court’s September 3 order, cancelling allotment of 350 acres of land in Gurgaon to real estate major DLF, has revealed a startling fact. A major chunk of the land belonged to DLF and its sister companies as way back as 1991.
It was acquired through exchange with the Wazirabad village panchayat but was later quashed by high court on technical grounds. Effectively this is the second time that DLF has lost control of this controversial piece of land on which an 18-hole golf course and housing project was coming up. The detailed judgment, a copy of which is available with TOI, has said, possible undertones of the entire process being initiated to favour DLF may be discernible.
This case has been taken up for too long. And the result has come out in way of the DLF group. As records stated the DLF already had been the owner of this land and lost ownership and it is the second time that a similar happening has taken place.
