Following the Supreme Court system on July 8, 2019, to move forward with the construction of the Delhi Metro’s 104-km Phase IV, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has begun its preparatory work for its extremely postponed Phase-IV project. The project is registered already and is expected to be finished in five years from the date of the commencement of work.

The Union Cabinet on March 7 has already accepted three out of the proposed six routes of the Delhi Metro Phase-IV. The three corridors that introduced the Cabinet’s approval incorporate Mukundpur-Maujpur, RK Ashram-Janakpuri West and Aerocity-Tughlakabad passageway. The current phase is required to combine and connect Delhi to the farther corners of the national capital region (NCR).

It was in December last year that the Delhi government had allowed all the six advanced corridors of the 104-km project. However, with Cabinet’s permission, the Phase-IV will only be 61.679-km with 46 Metro stations, of which 17 will be hoisted. The entire cost of the project is clinched around Rs 25,000 crores, which will be partly accorded by the Delhi government.

The Delhi Metro’s Phase-IV was designed to accommodate last-mile connectivity to the latest housing hubs in the NCR. According to the government, there will be 17 underground and 29 elevated metro stations on the corridors. Once finished it is exacted to provide to nearly 15 lakh passengers daily.
