Domestic Infrastructure and Civil Aviation to get new lease of life
Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Saturday, June 20th in New Delhi was to look into some of the issues which were faced by the domestic infrastructure sector. The infra ministries wanted to urge the government to take some immediate steps to enhance investments and increase productivity.
Secretaries from various Ministries in the infrastructure sector including Civil Aviation, Ports and Roads were to make short presentations before Modi outlining the status of their sectors. The government sources mentioned about this as the entire nation is looking at the Modi Government to bring about some drastic changes and step up the growth story of the tepid infrastructure sector.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation’s presentation was likely to focus on the need for improving air connectivity including regional connectivity. Unfortunately in our country the metros are well connected with major cities across the globe, however the tier 2 and 3 cities have to come to the nearest metro to travel abroad. Also there are many cities which still do not have an airport and the citizens have to depend only on road transport.
The ministry of civil aviation also mentioned about infrastructure improvements and taking steps to decrease the operating costs of airlines including bringing down cost of jet fuel. This will ensure cheaper air fares and the common man can afford air travel which is not possible in the current scenario.
