guest house in gurgaonPaying guest hostels running in plotted colonies in Gurgaon are surveyed by the Enforcement Branch of the Department of town and Country Planning.

A senior DTCP official said that PG hostels are running illegally as no commercial activities are allowed in plotted colonies of Gurgaon.

The owners usually rent the house for most PG hostels. The survey will enumerate details the real owners of the houses where illegal PG hostels are being run. The owners will be issued notices regarding the violations and then hefty penalty will be imposed.

After the complaint of the RWAs of different sectors against the illegal houses, the district administration decided to take up this matter seriously. A senior HUDA official said that they will also look into multi-storey buildings where the flat owners are illegally renting their premises to the Multi National Companies.

As per the HUDA rules, the plots located in residential colonies are not supposed to be used for commercial purposes, size of the plot does not matter in this. If such violation occurs, they have full authority to cancel such allotments. And to avoid such problems, generally PG hostel owners or the guest houses do not put sign board, but the local residents are aware of it.

According to Estate Office (II) jurisdiction, there are over 100 PG guest houses. Majority of them are located in sectors like 27,12 and 46,  in Gurgaon mostly for MNC executives and working women. There are about 20 people stay in a PG house, both boys and girls. Residents complain that due to this they are facing parking issues.

The residents claimed that due to the large number of PG houses, an extra pressure is put on infrastructure and facilities like water and power. They say that the overall consumption of both water and power is far more than a normal household.
