East West Corridor to boost economic activity in Arunachal Pradesh
The centre has given permission in principal for an East West Corridor for the state of Arunachal Pradesh in order to boost the economic activities that are going on in the state. The aforesaid was informed in the assembly last day.
The state government has been proposing to create special economic zones along the foothills of the areas of the state and demanded the Centre for an East West corridor from Tawang to Khonsa which has been approved in principal. This was said by the Chief Minister Nabam Tuki while he participated in the Budget discussion.
The Chief Minister further stated that the survey and the investigation for the ambitious project would be carried forth within this financial year. While responding to the member’s suggestions of the Budget 2014-15 which were presented on the 26th of July this year Tuki who also holds the Finance portfolio said that a tentative budget was prepared after proper consultation with the state’s line department. This East West Corridor will help in enhancing the required boost in the economic activities of the state. The necessity of this Corridor had been priory discussed before the demand was put forward.
