Edappally-Muvattupuzha road will be upgraded as State Highway
The government has planned to upgrade the Edappally-Muvattupuzha Road into a State highway, since it passes through commercially important areas of Kochi
Once it is declared as a State highway, more funds will be made available for enhancing the quality of the 40-km road.
As a first step for the expansion plan the government has handed over Rs 1.04 crore as compensation to 10 people who surrendered their land for widening the Kangarapady Junction.
The road is presently 4 meter wide and it will be expanded to 30 meters.
The PWD would acquire a total of over 1.5 acres of land from over 100 land owners, at the junction. The compensation to others would be handed over on the basis of registration.
Footpaths will be built on both side and drains constructed for the smooth flow of rain water.
After the construction of the wider road, the real estate of Kochi will see another rapid growth in that area.
