Election Commission issued show cause notice to DDA

The Election Commission (EC) has issued a show cause notice to DDA officials for disobedience of the Model Code of Conduct. On issuing the show cause notice to SK Jain, director/nodal officer, Land Management West Zone, Delhi Development Authority (DDA), New Delhi District Election Officer Ameya Abhyankar has directed to explain the situation which is responsible for the disobedience of model code of conduct within 24 hours.

As per the show cause notice, EC asked that why the authority has failed to follow the EC orders of stopping the process of migrating the residents of Kathputli Colony to Anand Parbat. If the shifting was as per the guidelines of court order should have been seized of the topic before the order.

The show cause notice was issued after the complaint from the BJP MLA RP Singh on the shifting of residents of Kathputli Colony. Mr. Singh has logged the complaint to the office of the Electoral Office blaming that DDA with the current MP Ajay Maken is migrating the householders/residents of Kathputli Colony.

The order says that the commission has decided on the issue in all the interest of free and fair election. The order also concluded that if there is any issue then the state government will bring the issue in front of the commission.
