Existing cities will also be transformed to smart cities

The Ministry of Urban Development has been getting a list ready for the features that can be installed when the work commences on the development of ‘100 smart cities’. The aforesaid was announced during the present years Union Budget. An amount of Rs 7,060 crore has been set aside for the development of these smart cities.

The Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley stated that the 100 smart cities will be built in form of satellite towns in larger cities. Existing mid-sized cities will also be modernised.  The Economic Adviser of the Ministry of Urban Development, Anand Singh Bhal, while addressing a seminar conducted on real estate’s discussions on the making of 100 smart cities including existing and new cities said that the smart city is a new word buzzing around and that it is not possible to create 100 smart cities at a go. It would take 20-30 years to create hundred smart cities. Hence it will be easier to construct an existing city into a smart city rather than making 100 new ones.

He added saying all the old existing cities will be upgraded with all the new features  to build it into smart city.
