FIR against civic bodies for favouring DLF
The Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) has registered a case against the real estate company DLF, a former administrator of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), and a former Commissioner of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).
The First Information Report (FIR) registered states that a former commissioner of the BDA, the then administrator of the BBMP and other officials allegedly approved the widening of the Begur-Hulimavu road which violated the Revised Master Plan 2015.
DLF had reportedly obtained permission to construct only four floors, but the company illegally constructed till 19 floors increasing the floor area ratio. Later, DLF is said to have pulled strings and pressured both the civic bodies to widen the road to legalise the unauthorised construction of additional floors.
According to the complaint, the civic bodies gave approval to widen the road from 18 meters to 24 meters to help DLF, which is constructing residential apartments in Begur in south Bangalore. In the complaint, it was alleged that DLF had also encroached upon government properties.
For the interest of the residents, MLA had written a letter to the Chief Engineer and the then BBMP Commissioner for widening of the road in their area, according to BBMP sources. Due to which, the road widening process got approved but yet to start.
