Five industrial estates in Tamil Nadu to be set up by SIDCO
Five industrial estates across the State will be set up by the Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) this year, informed P. Mohan, Rural Industries Minister. Mostly backward districts – Nesampadi and Vallur in Dharmapuri district, Pattanam and Kattuvannanjur in Villupuram district and in Cuddalore – will have industrial estates. The industrial estates will be set up set up at a cost of Rs. 3.95 crore on 10.35 acres.
These estates will provide direct jobs to 1,700 people and indirect jobs to 3,000.
Villupuram’ industrial estates will give a thrust to the growth of small and medium industries and will help in overall development of the region
In the Kattuvannanjur industrial estate, the work on infrastructure such as construction of roads and drainage facility and installation of street lights is likely to begin soon, noted the minister. He also laid foundation for construction of a polytechnic college in Sankarapuram which will have three floors to accommodate the classrooms, laboratories, a hostel, an auditorium and staff quarters. It will be built at a cost of about Rs.13. 97 crore
