Flyover work stalled for seven years

No Comments Sub Category:Construction,Infrastructure,Realty News Posted On: Sep 17, 2014

Even after seven years, the HP Public Works Department (PWD) has failed to complete the construction of a flyover in the heart of the town. The construction of the Rs 5-crore flyover project was taken up seven years ago by the national highway wing of the HP PWD to ease traffic in the town and avoid regular traffic jams on the narrow Pathankot-Mandi national highway which passes through the town.

However, because of a defective design, as claimed by the contractor, a span of the flyover collapsed twice-killing three persons, including an officer of the PWD. The contractor suffered heavy losses and was left with no alternative except to suspend the construction.

The work has been troubled due to design problems due to which an accident had occurred killing three people. The losses encountered by the contractor due to this had led to the suspension in the construction. The flyover in first place had started in order to relieve connectivity issues however things did not resolve and the work is still stalled even after seven years.
