Foreign architect criticises India’s industrial standards
The India’s industrial standards is being compared with the international standards in a report of Toronto-based architect Adamson Associates.
The report by the architect which is to construct a campus in Bangalore for around 4,000 Goldman Sachs staff, criticised India’s construction standards as it faced an array of obstacles including shoddy construction, corruption, poor sanitation and an on-site tomb.
However, locals have reacted strongly to this statement and said that Goldman Sachs have to lower the expectations.
The report gives a picture of how multinational companies view India’s local standards.
Lalit Kumar Jain, national president of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI) said the statement is a narrow-minded perspective without understanding the reality of India’s grounds.
An international developer said, it was not fair from the foreign architect’s part to criticise India’s construction standards as the construction costs are 75-80% lower in India than London.
It is expected that the reaction to the architect’s report will create more publicity for Goldman Sachs.
