FOSWAC Concerned with Deteriorating Law and Order in Chandigarh
The Federation of Sector Welfare Associations Chandigarh (FOSWAC) has hailed the Supreme Court’s decree that any immovable property transferred under the General Power of Attorney (GPA) will be considered illegal. The Federation observed that the decree will hit hard to unscrupulous property transactions. In its observation it also mentioned that the law will serve to generate better revenue to the government in the years to come. The law will curb black money and also reduce the legal hassles of transfer of property that happens owing to a defective title.
Also in the meeting there was a discussion the deterioration of the law and order in the recent months. In a Right To Information (RTI) it was revealed that majority of Station House Officers (SHO) are facing corruption charges. The FOSWAC had earlier asked that the posts of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and SHOs should be made transferable from one station to another so as to avoid growth of vested interests and leniency in their performance which may happen because of long term stay in one place.
