Delhi metroThe detailed project report (DPR) of the proposed 2.7 km metro line connecting Noida’s Sector 62 to Indirapuram has been declared by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA).

According to the report, the estimated cost of the project is Rs 764 crore. Sources have reported that the UP government will have to bear Rs 371 crore for the project.

This metro extension was planned by the authority in last June so that the connectivity becomes better to the people living in Indirapuram, Vasundhara and nearby areas. As per the proposed plan, this will be the third link within Ghaziabad which will come up.

The analysis of the DPR is going on by the DMRC and soon officials will check the project and also look for various options for generating revenue.

The funds for this metro extension project will be the major worry for the GDA, because majority of the private developers have already arranged hiked floor area ratio (FAR) for construction activities in the areas along the proposed Metro line.

Ghaziabad-Dilshad Garden to New Bus Stand route is the second phase of metro line waiting for the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the DMRC and the GDA. For the second phase, the estimated cost of the 9.41 km line to be borne by the UP agencies stands at Rs 1,116 crore, averaging about Rs 118 crore per kilometre.

The Government has to bear Rs 39 crore per kilometre for the 2.7 km Indirapuram link. This proposed route will have two metro stations, one at CISF and the other near DPS Indirapuram within Ghaziabad.

At present, the Metro operates on a mere 2.57 km stretch between Anand Vihar and Vaishali in Ghaziabad.
It is expected that the Indirapuram Metro link will be an extension to the proposed Noida City Centre-Sector 62 route. This metro route will have stations at sectors 34/51, 71/72, 61, Mamura, Fortis, and Electronic City.
