Many global retail business men have opted to come to India by opening a store in the NCR region or in Mumbai prior expanding it to other cities, as suggested by a study. The top four destinations that are being preferred by the retailers are Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. The study has been done by CBRE.

The study said that most of the international retailers surveyed during the study have opted to enter India by opening in a major metropolitan city like New Delhi (opted by 79 percent) or Mumbai (opted by 68 percent) before venturing their footprints to other tier I locations.

The India entry strategy for most of the global retailers from the CBRE survey is continued to be guided by the economic and demographic dynamics of the leading metropolitan cities.

The study has further highlighted that the global retailers have a presence in the emerging locations like Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Lucknow and Surat. This states that India has become one of the favourable destinations for global retailers to venture their business here. It is mostly because of the progressive development of the metropolitan cities all over India.
