GMR Infra consortium bags rail line doubling project in Secunderabad division

No Comments Sub Category:Realty News Posted On: Jun 20, 2014

GMR Infrastructure consortium has won a second rail project — a rail line doubling project which comprises three construction packages in South Central Railway’s Secunderabad division.

The project is worth Rs 389 crore; with GMR’s share of work being approximately Rs 207 crore. The scheduled timeline for the commencement of the rail-doubling project is mid-July 2014; and the work will be completed in a period of 30 months.

The win of Secunderabad division’s rail line doubling project by GMR Infrastructure consortium – which also includes Tata Projects and Kalindee Rail Nirman as partners – is highly noteworthy, especially given the fact that the company forayed into the railway construction arena in March this year. The company’s first project was a rail doubling project in Uttar Pradesh.

With regard to the recently-bagged rail line project, GMR Infrastructure consortium said that Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) has sent it a letter of award for line-doubling of multi modal transport system (MMTS- Phase II) works on the Secunderabad division.

The work which GMR will have to carry out will essentially include construction of roadbed and bridges, linking of tracks, general electrical works, outdoor signal & telecom (S&T) works, over head electrification (OHE), and traction substation (TSS).
