Goa: RFQ for Mopa international airport finalized by govt
In a recent announcement made via a post on the Twitter microblogging site late Wednesday, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that a steering committee, headed by him, has finalized the request for quotation (RFQ) for the proposed international airport at Mopa village in North Goa.
Since an RFQ underscores a standard business procedure which paves the way for the invitation of bids from suppliers for specific products or services, Parrikar said in the Twitter post that the finalizing of the RFQ by the steering committee marks a “major milestone” for the Mopa international airport.
Parrikar also said in the tweet that “the RFQ for Mopa will be available in public domain from the auspicious day of Dussehra.”
Earlier, in a speech at a function organised by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) in Panaji on Wednesday morning, Parrikar had said that the govt has taken the decision that a second airport is required in Goa.
While asserting that some people are apparently opposed to the idea of a second airport in Goa, Parrikar said in his speech that the government’s endeavour in the direction of the Mopa international airport should be supported by the CII and other similar associations because the move will help generate employment.
