Government emphasizing on Affordable Housing Scheme
In a press release by the Government of India, The Ministry for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation department reported that to create a slum free India, Rajiv Awas Yojana has been launched.
The housing scheme will provide financial assistance to States that are willing to assign property rights to slum dwellers and to provide basic civic and social services for slum redevelopment.
The department also encouraged the public private partnerships for the creation of affordable housing stock in India.
Under Rajiv Awas Yojana scheme the builders will get Rs 50000 for single unit of affordable houses or 25% of the cost of the civic infrastructure, whichever is lower.
