Government of Delhi will come up with norms on matters of stilt parking

No Comments Sub Category:Real estate trends,Realty News Posted On: Jul 03, 2014

The Delhi government has no desire to make stilt parking mandatory if the owner of the plot has enough space to fit cars within the compound. The DDA and the urban development ministry will soon come up with guidelines related to stilt parking and other provisions that will stop people from parking vehicles in places that are recognized as public property.

The UD ministry has also taken the initiative recently of submitting an affidavit to the high court in Delhi stating that the plots which measure from 100 to 500 square metres along with two dwelling units will not require stilt parking.

Previously, Delhi LG Tejendra Khanna had issued a mandatory for all the plots which are beyond 100 square metres to have stilt parking so that public space is not needed for the parking of vehicles.

While disposing the PIL, the bench declared last week that any policy which is related to the norms of the parking lot will make sure that the vehicles have not been parked outside the property.

Architects have also mentioned that unnecessary confusion has been created because of the issuing of the circular since the provision in Master Plan 2021 had made it very clear regardless of whether there is stilt or not, cars need to be accommodated in the plot.
