Government to provide cheap houses for rent
Due to increasing housing requirements in cities and towns, the government is expected to create rental houses in order to meet the needs of people who cannot afford to buy houses.
Currently the housing shortage is at around 27 million units and at least 50% is ascribed to people who cannot manage to own houses.
A government official said that the ministry is planning to set up a committee to recommend policy interventions to make rental housing more profitable.
Private builders and developers have been asked to build affordable rental housing as acquiring land is a major constraint in urban India.

Why to bother govt reg this.Another corruption and confusion will start.Supply and demand will take care of it.
govt must remove the old outdated rent control act.
Accept and honour 11 months lease agreement.Even police station or local magistrate
must solve the dispute within reasonable limit.TWO MONTHS.not seven years.
Give abundant tax concession for rent received from affordable houses.
At present they are giving it for one house.Increase it for more houses.
Declare housing and renting as industry.
Banks can give abundant long term loan facility considering rent receivable alone
and off course with mortgauge.
Banks can give long term loan with mortgauge alone without verifing repayable capacity for buying additional houses.At present they are accepting only salary or business income for sanctioning loan.
Be practical.Our country plenty hands and mouths are there.There is no recession.
Govt must consider only infra structure development like Anna nagar,besant nagar etc.
