Governor says Bengal received investment proposals worth Rs. 1.2 Lakh crores
Governor M K Narayanan mentioned that West Bangal has received industrial investment proposals worth 1.2 lakh crore. He was inaugurating the State Assembly’s budget session on Monday. Total investment ‘implemented and proposed’ in all the sectors in the state was over Rs. 1.4 Lakh crores, he says. He estimates that 3.5 lakh jobs can be generated from the proposed projects. He also stated that over 17,300 acres of land for industrial projects has been cleared since 2011. He expressed his pleasure that there was no loss of man-days due to strikes in the organised industry in the past year against over 90 lakh man-days lost in the calendar year 2010.
He pointed out that the State would add 1250 MW power during 2014-15 and new airports are being developed Durgapur, Coochbehar, Malda and new airports have been proposed to be set up at Digha, Sundbans, Sagar Islands and Santiniketan. Thirty four new multi-super speciality hospital projects have been taken up and 16,000-km village road projects have been initiated.
