Bangalore- The residents of Govindapura area in Nagawara ward have been facing a series of civic issues including water shortage, poor infrastructure, lack of proper sanitation and sewage system for past many years.

Though the area comes under BBMP limits, there is no drinking water and bore-well water is supplied ten days once, complained residents.

Drainage is left uncleaned, open stagnated drains are left unattended, drainage pipes which were laid nearly three years ago are still not functional.

The Corporator and other authorities have turned a blind eye towards the residents’ concerns. Though the residents complained over and again, no measures have been taken by the authorities. Instead they alleged that they don’t have the funds to take up developmental programmes.

The death rate has also increased in the area owing to poor sanitation. The residents are getting affected by dangerous diseases like Malaria and Dengue due to lack of hygiene.

Water is supplied once in two weeks and only for an hour. Adding to it, the valve men asks for bribe before supplying water, a resident pleaded. During rainfall, the condition worsens as the drainage and drinking water get mixed and residents have to use the same for drinking.
