Gurgaon builders accuse government of wanton sealing
The Gurgaon builder community has accused the Haryana government of misinterpreting the Punjab and Haryana High Court order of July 31 about sealing of borewells at construction sites and randomly sealing their projects instead.
The battle surrounding ground water uses continues as during a resumed hearing on petitions filed by Sunil Singh and Qutab Enclave Residents Welfare Association, the developers, represented by National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), an association of developers, contended that the authorities in Gurgaon were ‘victimising’ the community.
Realty major DLF’s counsel Chetan Mittal stated that the court did not order the sealing of construction sites on finding a borewell, which is what is being done by the Town and Country Planning Department.
The builders were of the opinion that they had not been using ground water illegally. However, the petitioner’s counsel refuted the claim made by the developers.
