Gurgaon developers criticizes state govt for failure to provide water
In the wake of the High Court ban on groundwater for construction purposes, real estate developers in Gurgaon heavily criticized the Haryana government for failing to provide adequate water.
They have alleged that despite charging them crores of rupees in the form of external development charges (EDC), water supply has not been taken care of.
Earlier, Town and Country Planning Department of Haryana has issued show-cause notices to 52 developers for using borewells for extracting groundwater for 81 projects in Gurgaon. The developers cautioned that the investment of lakhs of individuals was at stake if the court maintained the ban.
National Real Estate Developers Council (Naredco) and other realty organisations are planning to join the developers in the ongoing case in the Punjab and Haryana High Court to put across the industry’s concerns.
