People interested in purchasing immovable property in Gurgaon can get their sale deeds registered without any delay. They would get the copy of the registered sale deed on the same day. With this, Gurgaon became the first city of the state to offer hand-to-hand registration of properties. Gurgaon is one of Delhi’s four major satellite cities and is part of the National Capital Region (NCR) of India.

Starting Thursday, registering immovable properties such as plots, houses, apartments and farm houses with the revenue department in Gurgaon became a less-than-a-day affair as against the earlier gruelling 10-15-days long wait. About 100 applicants got their properties registered on the day of application, without   having to pay bribes to touts.

Gurgaon district magistrate R K Kataria said that five counters had been set up for the purpose at the office of the property registration officer (tehsildar). To make the system operational, powers to register sale deeds were granted to three more junior registration officers (naib tehsildars). Rs. 41 crore has been collected through registration of individual floors alone in Gurgaon after the rule was enforced by the government early this year.

A decision to enable properties to be registered the day of application was taken in a meeting chaired by the Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary of Revenue Department Naresh Gulati on June 23.“The idea is make the system not only transparent by eliminating touts in the registration process but also to register the properties the same day of application. As against one counter and a revenue officer earlier, we have now five counters and officers for the speedy processing of the documents. We would also install CCTV cameras soon in the office,” Kataria said.

“We have displayed the list of the documents and the fee required for property registration in the office and the applicants need to submit their documents and fee with the officers only. They are advised not to fall trap to touts and pay them more.” added Kataria.
