Gurgaon Tops in India for Using Internet
Gurgaon, one of the Delhi’s four major satellite cities, has crossed the Silicon Valley, Bangalore, in using computers and internet. Most of the residents have access to internet.
The Census Report of 2011 proves that theCyber City Gurgaon has beaten IT hub cities in India like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai. The household usage of internet in Gurgaon is 20.9 percent whereas the national average being 10 percent.
According to the census report, the Gurgaon population is 3,20,000 of which over 1,02,000 own computers and nearly 70,000 have access to internet. This development is mainly due to the large number of IT and Telecom professionals in the city.
Realtors are offering ‘broadband-ready’ apartments to buyers and also partnering with internet service providers to give free installations for flats in their projects.
It is expected that the internet penetration will even rise in the coming years. However, rural Gurgaon is still crawling in the internet and telecom progress.
