Hand over flat or pay Rs 1 crore to buyer: Consumer Forum
To bring in a relief to a buyer in Mumbai, after a span of 7 years, he might finally get the possession of his flat booked in Sion in 2005.
The Maharashtra State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has directed the builder of the flat in Sion to either give possession of the 712 sq ft flat within four months or pay Rs 1.04 crore as compensation to the buyer.
Also, it was observed by the forum that because of late possession, the buyer is deprived of having his own house. Since, rates of properties in Mumbai have gone high, builders are using the hard earned money of buyers without giving possession.
The said flat was booked in in August 2005 and agreement was registered in March 2006. The builder alleged that the property was being developed under the Slum Rehabilitation Scheme and had encountered some trouble.
