Haryana Housing Board to build 50,000 houses for EWS
In a massive housing programme launched for the economically weaker section (EWS), BPL and other categories, the Haryana Housing Board has launched construction of 50,000 affordable houses for over the next two years. Construction of about 30,000 houses has already started. The total cost of the project is being estimated to be over Rs 2,250 crore.
The construction of 22,600 houses was in progress at Ambala City, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Jind, Fatehabad, Ratia, Hansi, Tohana, Hisar, Sirsa, Sonepat, Barhi, Gurgaon, Narnaul, Rewari, Faridabad, Palwal, Sisoth, Jhajjar, Bahadurgarh and Rohtak.
A housing board official said that the registration for 6,892 houses had been floated recently, which included 1,506 houses for Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes at Dadri. Giving further information regarding the houses for the EWS and BPL categories, he said, the houses would comprise two rooms with a 300 square feet covered area and cost about Rs 4.50 lakh per unit.
