Unauthorised Colonies Residents Can Apply for Ownership In Delhi
Unauthorised colonies residents of Delhi will be able to apply for ownership rights starting 16th December 2019, said Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Saturday during the launch of a portal which will define and delineate the boundaries of 1,731 unauthorised colonies here using satellite imagery.
The applicants will get the ownership certificate within 180 days from the date of application.
The Union Cabinet approved a bill that provides legal support to allow ownership rights to the people living in unauthorised colonies in the city. It is expected that this move will benefit 40 to 50 lakh people.
The government wants the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) to look at the boundaries drawn using satellite imagery and send their suggestions and complaints within 15 days.
