HC sets aside Haryana govt’s 350-acre Gurgaon lands allotment to DLF

On Wednesday, Haryana Government decision with regard to the allotment of a 350-acre land area to realty biggie DLF in Gurgaon in 2010 was set aside by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The High Court’s decision pertains to the massive land parcel which was allotted to DLF by the Haryana Government at Wazirabad, Gurgaon. At the allotted land, DLF had proposed to build golf villas.

Setting aside the Haryana government’s decision, a division bench – comprising Justices Surya Kant and Amol Rattan Singh – asked the state government to carry out an auction of the Wazirabad land allotted to DLF.

For the auction of the land, the government was directed to invite bids within one month globally. DLF will also be able to participate in the auction process.

The decision by Justices Surya Kant and Amol Rattan Singh came against the backdrop of a number of petitions which had been filed by farmers who challenged the acquisition of land by the government and the land’s transfer to DLF. The farmers’ counsel Inderpal said that the 350-acre Wazirabad land in question was a village common land.

The Justices upheld the acquisition of the land by state-owned authorities, but have set aside its allotment to DLF.
