Hiring companies expect spurt in job growth
With Narendra Modi having been brought to power – with a thumping majority – by the Indian voters, the hiring companies have expressed the hope that the new Prime Minister will give the manufacturing and infrastructure sectors a notable boost, in order to deliver his promise of creating more jobs for the youth.
Since more than 12 million youth join the workforce of the country every year, underscoring the need for creation of an equivalent number of jobs, one of the key agendas of the BJP’s manifesto is employment generation and skill development.
With a stable new Government at the Centre expected to come up with policies for economic growth, Moorthy Uppaluri – the CEO of Randstad India, a leading global HR service firm – said that a huge number of jobs are likely to be created in sectors such as IT, healthcare, and BFSI (banking, financial services, insurance).
Uppaluri further added that around 30-40 million jobs will be created in the manufacturing and infrastructure sectors over the next ten years.
According to K Sudarshan, global executive search firm EMA Partners International’s regional managing partner – Asia, if the new Government delivers its promise on revitalizing the economy, there will be a surge in hiring in sectors like infrastructure, automobiles, real estate, hospitality, and travel.
Noting that there will be “a spurt in job growth in power, roads and urban infrastructure sectors,” Sudarshan said: “Infrastructure will probably be the next big growth engine for jobs.”
