HMDA steps up cleaning of Hussainsagar Lake
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has been emphasizing on the cleaning up of Hussainsagar Lake.
Having taken up the initiative to clean up the polluted Hussainsagar Lake, the 400-year-old water body in the heart of the city, the HMDA has been working at diverting the sewage inflows.
The lake faces pollution threats from industrial effluents as well as the sewage inflows from different inlets.
While the HMDA seeks to dredge sediments at the inlets to check the effects of industrial effluents, protection of all the water bodies that fall in the catchment area of the lake has been visualized, too. For this purpose, a total of 80 lakes have been identified in the entire catchment area.
