Homes may be offered in Delhi by redeveloped government colonies
Now the private citizens living in Delhi will be able to buy homes and offices in the government colonies. This will be particular to people living in South and Central Delhi. The National Buildings Construction Corps has now considering in selling some parts such as the Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar and Tyagaraj Nagar. This was said according to a senior official.
There are a total of 30 colonies in Delhi and they cover about 1,000 hectares of prime land. This consists of houses for government officials. The government has now been making plans in order to redevelop these colonies. Most of them are however old.
The National Buildings Construction Corps has been currently working towards developing a government colony which happens to be located in East Kidwai Nagar. The funds have been engendered by leasing commercial office space and homes as well for about a period of 30 years to the sectors of public undertakings as well as other governmental bodies.
The managing director of National Buildings Construction Corps said that they were waiting for the approval of the Cabinet to begin their work on three new projects of redevelopment. There are many state governments who have approached them for similar kind of governmental projects. Some of them are also of advanced stages.
