Housing for all by 2022 : Naidu
BJP’s manifesto clearly charted out the housing for all agenda by 2022. Urban Development and Housing Minister Venkaiah Naidu mentioned in New Delhi that this is a top priority of the government, which is exploring all financial models, to go ahead with the ambitious scheme.
Modi has invited the states and Union Territories ministers to come up with ideas and suggestions to fulfill this dream. Naidu inaugurated a two-day meet of Urban Development and Housing ministers and secretaries of states and Union Territories and stated that the P.M wants all the stakeholders to be proactive partners in this challenging task.
He acknowledged the enormous challenges and opportunities provided by the Modi government’s initiative to provide housing for all by 2022. Naidu also spoke about the recent incidents of building collapse in Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai are serious matters of concern and the state government cannot shrug off their responsibilities.
The Minister emphasised on the need for GIS-based regional planning, development of adequate infrastructure including efficient public transport system, provision of drinking water, solid waste management and sanitation besides conservation of energy and nature. Naidu particularly explained the need for transparency and accountability in urban planning and management. A single window for clearance for real estate project may enhance transparency and he urged the ministers to come up with the issues which their respective states are facing.
