HRD rejects the proposed land HP state government for central university
The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) had rejected the new site proposed by the state government for the Central University Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) at Dharamsala. The sources stated that a team of the Union Ministry has visited Dharamsala recently in order to inspect the new site that has been proposed for the CUHP but rejected the proposal of the government.
The ministry stated that they would be writing to the state to look for a new sight. The move might also bring the state and the Union Ministry at loggerheads over the location of the university. The CUHP was allotted to the state in the year 2010.
The then BJP government had cited a proposal for two campuses of CUHP in the Kangra district. The government had allotted a land measuring 200 acres for the campus at Dharamsala and 500 acres at Dehra. The new site that the State Government of Himachal Pradesh proposed was not welcomed by the union ministry. After the proposal of a new site the matters would be taken into consideration about building the Central University. As of now the hunting stage of a fresh plot will start for the state ministry.
