With poor infrastructure being the cause of most of the electricity-related problems in Gurgaon, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has revealed in a recent announcement that it has earmarked a substantial amount for power infrastructure in the new Gurgaon sectors.

HUDA said in a June 17 announcement that an amount of Rs 2,688 crore has been allocated for developing power infrastructure in the upcoming sectors in Gurgaon.

The Rs 2,688-crore budget for electricity infrastructure will help HUDA build as many as 37 new power substations in Sectors 58 to 115 in Gurgaon. While HUDA will spend Rs 2,313 crore out of the allocated budget for Gurgaon’s power infrastructure, Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) will get to spend Rs 375 crore.

Revealing that HUDA has allocated land to HVPN in Sectors 59, 65, 67, 77, 78, 85, 87, 91, 94 and 95 for building the first 10 substations, HVPN superintendent engineer Rajesh Gupta said that the construction of the 220KV substations will involve an approximate cost of 51 crore each.

Further adding that the number of 220 KV substations and 400 KV substations in the new sectors in Gurgaon will be 34 and 3 respectively, Gupta said that a total of 6000 megavolt ampere (MVA) will be supplied from these substations.

Gupta also said that the substations will be able to meet the “possible increase in demand for electricity in the near future.”
