To regularize illegal cables, telecom companies and MSEDCL will have to pay thrice the original charges to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Regarding subway cables the civic management has come up with a proposal . The proposal will likely be reviewed in the social position panel meeting planned.
Several government, semi-government, private corporations and also individuals should take PMC’s permission to set wires. Rate card was revised and according to the revised plan of 2012-13, the reinstatement cost ought to be hiked to Rs 2,600 per meter from Rs 1,900 per meter. Those who have laid wires without the civic body’s permission should be regularized only if they pay thrice the original cost.
Civic officials mentioned that the charges were hiked much like the program stroll each year and new rates tend to be determined as per the inflation rates. Civic activists demanded that the civic body should charge for companies who have hanged the wires and cables from buildings and poles but till now no action have being taken in this matter.
