Hutchins Road losing its beauty

No Comments Sub Category:Bangalore,Cities,Civic Issues Posted On: Feb 07, 2013

Garbage overflowingHutchins Road is a victim of unplanned construction. Old bungalows are replaced with multi-storeyd apartments with no attention paid to the basic infrastructure like sewage, water and roads.

Multi-storeyd apartments have come in place of independent houses which result in inadequate supply of water, overflowing manholes and unsafe pavements.

The Residents Welfare association of Bangalore East (REWABE) has submitted a letter to the area corporator, pointing out the inadequate infrastructure in the area.

The president of REWABE said that the BWSSB sewer pipes cannot handle the waste coming from numerous illegally constructed buildings, which resulting in overflowing manholes on Hutchins Road and Davis Road. Gargabe is piling up on the road and the civic body is not able to supply enough water or even the minimum quantity of water to many households.

The roads are already narrow and now since the people have started parking their vehicles on the road which makes it even more narrow. Residents believe that the neighbourhood is slowly turning into a slum.

A resident said that the buildings are so close together that the residents do not get fresh air and sunlight into their houses. The infrastructure is insufficient to provide the needs of the residents.

REWABE’s letter has been forwarded to the joint commissioner and the area will be inspected by a corporate and will ensure that illegal constructions are stopped immediately.
