Hyderabad-Karimnagar-Ramagundam roadway toll collection has begun w.e.f. June 1
Toll collection on the Hyderabad-Karimnagar-Ramagundam roadway has started with effect from June 1, 2014, after an independent consultant gave a provisional completion certificate to Gayatri Project’s special purpose vehicle HKR Roadways Ltd (HKRRL).
The provisional completion certificate for the roadway was given to HKRRL on May 30, 2014.
Hyderabad-based infrastructure and construction company Gayatri Projects had incorporated HKRRL special purpose firm for the execution of the two-lane to four-lane expansion project of the Hyderabad-Karimnagar-Ramagundam roadway.
It was under a 25-year concession from Andhra Pradesh Road Development Corporation (APRDC) that HKRRL had to implement the expansion project on a ‘design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT)’ basis.
The 207-km Hyderabad-Karimnagar-Ramagundam roadway stretch is part of State Highway 1; and it links the important districts of Hyderabad, Medak and Karimnagar. The locations along the highway areas have a number of industrial and commercial units, including coal mines, a cement factory, fertiliser plants, and thermal power stations.
Noting that the roadway plays a vital role in connecting some of the key regions of State Highway 1, Gayatri Projects’ Managing Director Sandeep Kumar Reddy said: “The corridor is expected to play a vital role in the economic development of the Telengana region as the belt is marked by presence of several industrial units.”
