The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) of Kashmir stoped the construction of an illegal and unauthorized palatial house near Dachigam National Wildlife Park.

The SHRC issued notices to several government departments over alleged illegal constructions in Srinagar.

Any new constructions except for renovations are banned in green belt of Srinagar.

According to a judicial member ‘there are also allegations that the government is shutting its eyes to the unauthorized constructions by powerful people.’

Any construction in the court designated green belt poses threat to ecology of the Dachigam sanctuary and nearby shrinking Dal Lake. Those construction will be stopped or removed from that area.
