Illegal construction in Shimla can land a person in Jail
In Shimla now any kind of illegal construction could land a person in jail as the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) has made amendments in the pre existing Act so that it can help to regulate the construction activity that is frequently undergoing in the tourist town.
Since the past years the unplanned growth in Shimla has turned the previous summer capital of India into a concrete jungle. Shimla which is the state capital and administrative centre of the state has been growing from all sides due to unplanned and frequently developing construction.
There is an increasing need and demand of land for the housing construction in Shimla due to migration of both unskilled and skilled workforce. This has particularly resulted in the vast expansion of the hill town over the last few years. Around 6,000 buildings in Shimla were constructed without any kind of proper permission in the past and the issue is still been hanging fire for the last many years. Post this amendment by the Shimla Municipal Corporation it is being expected that the illegal construction works will stop in Shimla there by answering to the problem.
