Illegal shops heightens traffic woes in Bhopal
As traffic problem ails Bhopal, over 10 commercial complexes in the busy New Market allegedly have constructed shops in the basement reserved for parking, thus making the shops illegal.
It has been pointed out as a contributing factor to clog the busy roads as visitors are forced to park their vehicles out on the road.
The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has turned a blind eye to the problem. BMC officials conceded that there were illegal constructions but that the corporation would need the help of police and district administration to handle the issue.
It has been made mandatory for the commercial complexes to have parking lots in the basement. If these basements are freed for parking, traffic flow will be smoother.
