Illegal structures are demolished in Chandigarh
After the high court has directed to remove all constructions falling in the catchment area of Sukhna Lake, the authority has carried out a demolition drive to pull down houses and upcoming structures in Kansal and Nayagaon areas.
The drive was carried out by a team of 12 officials, which pulled down 12 structures. The drive also faced resistance from the people.
All the ongoing construction activities in the area have been brought to a halt. The municipal authority has demolished the boundary walls of plots, besides some upcoming multi-storied buildings.
The authority also applied for government’s advice for those constructions which have been sanctioned earlier.
The demolition drive has been carried out in keeping with the court’s order.
