No Comments Sub Category:Cities,Civic Issues,Mumbai Posted On: Nov 28, 2012

Mumbai- Juhu residents allege that the airport authorities are cutting lot of trees without taking approval from the respected authorities.

However the authorities denied the allegations saying that they have cut only the unwanted bushes and shrubs. According to them, they have cleaned the bushes so that the slum dwellers do not indulge themselves in any sort of illegal activities.

A filmmaker and social activist, Ashoke Pandit said that the airport authorities have spoiled the whole stretch of trees lining the pond. He is planning to take this protest to its logical conclusion.

Juhu Airport, which is the older city aviation airport in the country, has been facing protection troubles for quite a while and at present it does not have a single armed guard. Moreover, the slum dwellers have encroached upon some of the airport land and are causing problems.
