Important Issues were informed to industry Nirmala Sitharam
During the presentation made by the officials to the ministry to state on matters of commerce and industry Nirmala Sitharam, several topics were raised. This included imposition of MAT (Minimum Alternate Tax), deriving of the manufactured output, restrictions made on the import of gold which ultimately affect the jewel and gems industry along with stagnant growth of the Special Economic Zones and issues concerning the possession of land and labour. The presentation had taken place on Wednesday.
There were several presentations made by the secretary of commerce, Mister Rajeev Kher and secretary of DIPP, Mister Amitabh Kher. They spoke and discussed about some valuable issues such as exports, pacts of free trade and the foreign trade policy which is about to emerge. Matters related to WTO were also mentioned a couple of times.
There was emphasis laid on the requirement of labour laws that are better, reduction in the output of manufacturing, relaxation of the FDI in matters of railways, construction and defence. Special emphasis will also be laid upon other important labour extensive sectors. This one includes textiles, leather, gems and jewellery.
