Increase in FSI demanded by flood affected residents in Pune
The residents who come under the Panshet flood affected housing scheme have demanded increase in floor space index (FSI) in their residential agreements.
The Development Plan (DP) of Pune which is on hold for now has been asked for an amendment to provide extra FSI. The DP for old city areas is on hold with corporators and is yet to reach any consensus.
The flood affected schemes are on hold for years. Earlier, a proposal to increase the FSI up to 2 has been made to include in development plan. Now, the residents want the FSI which is at 2 to be increased to 2.5.
The last DP was approved by the City Improvement Committee (CIC) of PMC in October for a duration of 20 years (2007-2027). This DP is the first DP after 25 years, i.e, 1987. The DP had special provisions for a Pune metro rail project, a transport hub, expansion of main roads, schemes for housing for the poor and cluster development of old dilapidated wadas.
The previous DP was made in 1982 and passed in 1987 and expired in 1997. However, an extension of 10 years was given as only 20 percent of the work was done.
