Increasing demand for “Walk to work” concept
Bangalore- Who would like to travel for hours in crowded cities and especially after a tough day of work?
Most of us would love to reside in a home which is close to our workplace. Staying near to your workplace has many benefits. Most importantly, it saves your precious time which otherwise is wasted on traveling to and fro from office to home, and getting struck in traffic jams.
The concept “walk to work” is gaining huge popularity, especially among software engineers and employees. Hours of travel and traffic issues have forced many techies to shift their residences to houses in vicinity of their offices. Even the government is forced to rethink on town planning.
Based on the concept, the authorities have recently proposed a new ‘walk to work’ model for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), in which industrial estates would have residential colonies in vicinity.
Builders including Astro, Brigade and Vaishnavi, have started launching residential developments in vicinity of software companies, said Nagaraja Reddy, president of CREDAI, Karnataka.
There is great demand for walk to work concept residences in Whitefield, ITPL and Electronic City areas where most of the IT companies are accumulated. And hopefully, the proposed Namma Metro phase II is expected to cheer many builders to launch residential projects on Tumkur Road and Kadugodi.
