Indiscriminate digging of bore wells creates water crisis in Bangalore

Bore wellHigh growth of real estate projects in Bangalore leads to the water crisis of the city. Many newly developed areas in Bangalore, which were outskirts some years ago, are experiencing sharpe rise of apartment constructions.

When the construction of any project started, the bore wells are dug at the same time as corporation water supply only happens after the construction of the apartments is completed.

It is found that more than 70 percent of apartment complexes in Bangalore have bore well as alternate source of water supply. But, the water level for bore wells is going deep in the ground. Earlier the average depth of the bore wells in Bangalore was 400 ft, not it goes deep to 800 to 1000 ft.

To prevent the rising water crisis in the city, rain water harvesting projects must be taken up by the complexes. Chennai is a good example of rain water harvesting. RWH is strictly implemented in every houses and apartments in Chennai.
