Infosys to start operations in its second DC in Bhubaneswar by July, 2014
There is some good news for Infosys which has not been performing as per the guidance issued by them. The state-run Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) has urged the Falta Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to issue the letter of permission (LoP) to IT major Infosys to start operations at its second development centre in Bhubaneswar. This is located on the outskirts of the cityat Info-valley IT/ITes SEZ.
Infosys has about 10% share of the entire 500 acre land to be developed by IDCO. The IT behemoth is the anchor tenant of the project, had been allotted 50.19 acres of land at Info-valley. The Union Commerce Ministry has allowed the IT giant to act as a co-developer of the SEZ.
After executing the lease deed with Idco for the land on August 29, 2013, Infosys had sought a consent letter from IDCO to obtain LoP from the development commissioner of FALTA SEZ. IDCO has conveyed its consent to Infosys for operationalization of its unit in accordance with the Clause 18 sub clause 2(ii) of SEZ rule, 2006 of Government of India.
The IT major wants to start its operations in this SEZ from July 2014 with an initial head count of 1000. The development of Info-valley complex is significant as the Odisha’s new ICT policy aims to achieve a turnover (including exports of software and IT services and Electronic System Design Manufacturing, domestic consumption and training) of four billion US dollars by 2020.
